Building healthy habits or interrupting harmful ones takes time and practice. You have read Atomic Habits, the framework which grants the power to change the world. But something is off... You are unable to implement the recipe.

Why? Because you lack someone or something to constantly remind you to drift off course.

How to fix? Identify the largest screen you have in your home or at your workspace and set up a dashboard. Place the screen wherever it is impossible to miss it.

Next, add these 3 widgets: notes, todo, and progress

Notes

Information piles up fast. Don't keep irrelevant information in your memory as well as information which is highly susceptible to change over a short period of time. This is the kind of information you would want to store.

Another kind of information you would want to store is... your own thoughts as well as someone else's thoughts.

There are multiple reasons one would want to write and store something down. If this is already part of your daily routine, GREAT! But be mindful about the medium which stores the information. If you use your phone or a basic notes app, you will soon (after a few weeks or months) realize that you have a pile of disorganized notes you forgot about since the moment you closed the screen or app.

Could you however miss a notes widget which is always open on the largest screen you were able to find? No, you can't. You still can't see it? Throw it on a projector.

Todo

The notes you accumulated in the previous step can sometimes turn into tasks each with its own due date or priority. Don't worry. Specula's got your back. Throw in another widget or two. Now your dashboard suddenly becomes more powerful and your urge to check things off kicks in. You want to tick that task. Whenever you go to the kitchen you see it, whenever you go to the bathroom, you see it. Congratulations you made it almost impossible for yourself to procrastinate. The dashboard turned into a ghost and is haunting you. There is no escape.

Progress

But some of those tasks are complex or take a lot of time to complete. If you don't want to be overwhelmed by 100 tasks add a progress widget instead. This widget adapts to different use cases as you can configure both the current step and the number of steps necessary to reach 100% completion.

Problem solved. No more procrastination.
